First landed in Kelowna
When I first landed in Kelowna I thought I’d find everything I needed through Yelp or whatever but it was mostly restaurants and tourist spots. I needed someone to repair my laptop, a non-chain local dentist, and even a pet groomer eventually. What helped me was actually stumbling across a site built more for BC locals — not tourists, not generic directories. It’s not fancy or flashy, which honestly is what I liked about it. It just gets to the point and shows you places that are actually around you, down to your postal code. It’s how I found my current physiotherapist (who’s great, by the way) and the mobile bike repair guy I swear by now. If you’re still trying to get your bearings and want a place to look up anything from notaries to dog walkers, this is what I use: business directory bc. It doesn’t try to be everything, which I appreciate. Just BC businesses, organized by location, and it’s been surprisingly reliable. Wish I’d known about it before spending two weeks calling around trying to find someone who sharpens skates, no joke.

Sometimes I think about how weird it is that a random recommendation from a stranger or something you click without thinking can end up changing the whole flow of your day. Like, one decision or a bit of luck and suddenly you’ve got the right person at the right time — or not.
