Timeline planning—how to align permits, materials, and trades
My biggest fear is paying for a kit and then watching it sit while permits drag on or a concreter is unavailable. For folks who scheduled smoothly, what sequence worked? Did you reserve trades first, or wait for approval? I’m trying to avoid storage fees, re-quotes, or losing a good tradie because I can’t give firm dates yet.

I built a Gantt-style plan: permit lodgement → provisional trade holds → conditional kit order → final booking after approval. Using the checklists from https://shedpermit.au/
, I submitted a complete pack to avoid RFIs. I also negotiated “release windows” with the supplier so dispatch could shift by a week without penalty. That buffer saved me when the council added a minor drainage note late in the process.
