Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

At The Cove Tasmania we believe in equitable and dignified access for any guest with a disability.

Our site is not fully accessible; however, we have options for those with low vision/blind, those with a mobility disability, or simply need assistance and we can accommodate a range of guests with a range of disability needs.

We have a disability-compliant room (Cheviot One) with disabled parking, ramp access, and a full ensuite which is disabled-compliant.  Cheviot One is ideal for those with low vision or mobility requirements.

The Cove Tasmania is on the ocean front so the sounds of the ocean, nature, the little penguins, various other birdlife, wildlife, and frogs, can enhance your senses to allow you to hear, feel and experience this amazing location.

Our Cliffside rooms have ramp access, however, are not fully compliant disabled rooms.  Cliffside One has a large spacious bathroom and we have had guests with a mobility disability who found it more than adequate for their needs.  Cliffside Two and Three - bathroom access would be challenging for those confined to a wheelchair, however fine for those with minor mobility needs.

The Alexander Centre – our shared communal space has ramp access, from the car park and we have disabled parking at the entry.  We have ramp access to our courtyard and transition mats at each of our doors to internal areas.

We have a communal compliant disability unisex bathroom in the Alexander Centre.

We can accommodate companion animals, however, we would require some notice prior to your check-in to ensure we have everything you need, and you are aware of our sensitive environment in a conservation area.

For those with the need to use walking aids access to all Cliffside rooms is suitable.

We can provide the following (prior arrangement is necessary)

  • Shower stools

  • Wheelchairs

  • Walking sticks

Our front-of-house staff have all undertaken training and completed an Introduction to Disability Awareness. Our entire team is here to assist, to ensure our guests with disability requirements have a wonderful, memorable experience immersed in nature.

We love to welcome every guest and we are open to solving problems in relation to disability access and any other special needs that may be required.

Our farm and penguin experiences and our walks on the property can be undertaken with the assistance of our six-seater ATV and a caring guide. Our walks are on natural farmland and uneven ground.

Our team at The Cove Tasmania have a “can do” attitude and we welcome a conversation to help guests who may need assistance.

For those with communication needs, we are again here to assist and provide interpretation services if needed.
